GTA 6 Single-Player DLC Reportedly In Development Alongside Main Game

July 10, 20265 min read

Unverified rumour: This article contains speculation and unconfirmed leaks. It is not sourced from official Rockstar Games communications. For confirmed facts, see our News section.

The Rumour

According to posts from several Rockstar-adjacent insiders on social media and the GTA forums, Rockstar Games may already have a single-player story expansion in development — one that could introduce a third playable character alongside the confirmed protagonists Jason and Lucia.

The rumour first surfaced in mid-2025 when a user on the GTAForums with a verified track record (correctly leaked the November 19 release date months in advance) claimed that internal Rockstar builds had references to a character codenamed "Vice" — distinct from both Jason and Lucia's code names.

What the Supposed Evidence Says

  • Forum post from "Ruptly_R": A well-known leaker who correctly revealed the retail price of the Collector's Edition claims that Rockstar's Dundee studio (previously responsible with the main team) has a dedicated team working on "post-launch story content."
  • Job listings: In early 2026, Rockstar briefly posted a position for a "Senior Narrative Designer — Post-Launch Content" before removing it within 48 hours. Job listings disappearing quickly are often interpreted as the role being filled internally or the listing being posted accidentally.
  • Sound file metadata: A modder who datamined the PC build pre-release claims to have found animation rig references for a character model not matching Jason or Lucia's proportions.

Why This Is Plausible

Rockstar has precedent for this. GTA IV received two major standalone story expansions (The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony) that were critically acclaimed. Given that GTA 6 is Rockstar's biggest release ever and they are under pressure to sustain engagement beyond GTA Online, a story DLC would make business sense.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has also repeatedly referenced "extraordinary long-term value" from GTA 6 in investor calls — language that could imply premium single-player content beyond the base game.

Why You Should Be Sceptical

  • None of this has been confirmed by Rockstar or Take-Two in any official capacity.
  • The leaker "Ruptly_R" has been right before but has also posted incorrect information.
  • Job listings being removed can have many explanations that have nothing to do with active development.
  • Datamined metadata from pre-release builds is notoriously unreliable — assets are often placeholder, recycled, or from scrapped content.

Our Take

This sits in the category of plausible but unverified. Rockstar almost certainly has some form of post-launch content in planning, but whether that includes a premium story DLC with a new protagonist is pure speculation at this point. We will update this article if any official announcements are made.

Credibility rating: 4/10 — Interesting speculation, no hard evidence.
