GTA 6 Release Date, Price & Platforms — Everything Officially Confirmed by Rockstar

ℹ️

Source transparency: All information on GTA 6 Vault is sourced from Rockstar's official trailers, press releases, and Take-Two investor communications. Sections that go beyond confirmed facts are clearly labelled as our own analysis.

Official Platform Announcement

Rockstar Games confirmed GTA 6 as a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S exclusive at launch. No PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, or PC versions have been announced. The game is built natively for current-generation hardware.

This was stated in Rockstar's official press materials accompanying Trailer 1 in December 2023 and reaffirmed in communications around Trailer 2 in May 2024.

Official Release Date: November 19, 2026

Take-Two Interactive confirmed November 19, 2026 as the GTA 6 release date in their fiscal year earnings communications. This is on a Wednesday, which is an unusual release day choice — most major games launch on Friday. No explanation for the midweek choice has been given.

The release date has been reconfirmed in subsequent Take-Two earnings calls. It has not been moved since its announcement. We will update this article immediately if any official delay or change is announced.

Official Pricing

Standard Edition: $79.99 USD — Full base game on your chosen platform.

Ultimate Edition: $99.99 USD — Includes the base game plus additional content. The specific contents of the Ultimate Edition have not been fully detailed by Rockstar yet. We will update this section when the full edition breakdown is published.

GTA 6 is priced at $79.99 — $10 above the $69.99 that became standard for PS5/Xbox Series X launches. This follows the price increases announced by other major publishers in recent years.

No PC, Switch, or Mobile Announcement

As of writing, GTA 6 has not been confirmed for any platform other than PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PC release date, no Switch version, and no mobile announcement. These may be announced in the future — Rockstar's history with GTA 5 included a significant PC release — but nothing is official.

What Take-Two Has Said Publicly

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has described GTA 6 as targeting "the highest quality in the history of the company" and has expressed confidence in the November 2026 release window in public investor calls. These statements are on record and reflect the publisher's official position.

Pre-Order and Pre-Load Key Dates

Event Date
Pre-orders opened June 25, 2026
Pre-load begins November 12, 2026 (local midnight)
Global launch November 19, 2026

Digital pre-loading begins exactly one week before launch. Every player must download the game before playing — GTA 6 has no disc. Pre-loading from November 12 is the only way to avoid launch day server congestion, which will be severe given the scale of the release.

The $79.99 Price Point in Context

GTA 6's Standard Edition pricing at $79.99 USD represents a $10 increase over the $69.99 that became the standard entry price for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X launches in 2020. Several major publishers have moved to $79.99 in recent years — EA, Activision, and Ubisoft have all published titles at this price point. Take-Two was among the first to publicly commit to $79.99 for a first-party title of this scale.

The $20 gap between Standard ($79.99) and Ultimate ($99.99) editions is consistent with how Rockstar priced GTA 5's special editions in 2013. For context, GTA 5's Special Edition launched at $79.99 when the base game was $59.99 — the same $20 premium structure. The Ultimate Edition price is also in line with how competitors structure their premium tier: deluxe editions across the industry commonly land at $99.99 USD.

What Is Still Officially Unannounced

Despite the November 19 launch being confirmed, several key details have not yet been published by Rockstar:

  • The full contents of the Ultimate Edition
  • PC version plans or release window
  • Full breakdown of the Vintage Vice City Pack contents
  • GTA Online or multiplayer mode details
  • PS5 Pro-specific enhancement specifications
  • Official file size / download size
