GTA 6 Radio Stations — Everything Confirmed and What to Expect

Source transparency: All information on GTA 6 Vault is sourced from Rockstar's official trailers, press releases, and Take-Two investor communications. Sections that go beyond confirmed facts are clearly labelled as our own analysis.

What Rockstar Has Officially Confirmed

As of the time of writing, Rockstar has not released an official list of radio stations or a confirmed tracklist for GTA 6. This is consistent with how Rockstar has handled music reveals in previous titles — station names and licensed tracks are typically revealed close to launch, often as part of a dedicated marketing push.

What Rockstar has confirmed is the setting: the State of Leonida, with Vice City as its urban centre, inspired by Miami and broader Florida culture. That confirmation is the single most meaningful piece of information for predicting what GTA 6's radio will sound like.

What the Trailers Tell Us

Rockstar's two official trailers for GTA 6 feature music — and while no tracks were credited in the official trailer descriptions, the audio choices were deliberate.

Trailer 1 featured Tunnel Vision by Tom Petty — an iconic American rock track that immediately set the tone: Florida, highways, a certain nostalgic Americana running underneath the neon. Tom Petty was born in Gainesville, Florida. The choice was not accidental.

Trailer 2 featured Move It On Over by Hank Williams — classic American country, another deliberate signal. Rockstar has used trailer music to set mood and genre tone across their history, and the country track in Trailer 2 aligns with the rural Leonida sequences shown alongside it.

Neither track has been confirmed as in-game licensed music — trailer licences and in-game licences are separate deals. But the genre signals from both trailers are meaningful.

Why Leonida's Setting Shapes the Radio

Vice City's previous incarnation — GTA: Vice City (2002) — had one of the most celebrated game soundtracks ever released. Set in 1986 Miami, it featured radio stations including Fever 105 (disco, R&B), V-Rock (heavy metal), Wave 103 (synth-pop and new wave), and Flash FM (80s pop). The stations were inseparable from the game's identity.

GTA 6's Vice City is contemporary rather than 1980s. That changes the palette dramatically. A modern Miami-inspired setting points toward:

  • Latin and reggaeton — Miami's Latin music culture is one of the city's defining sonic identities. A Vice City set in 2026 without a Latin station would be a significant omission.
  • Hip-hop and trap — dominant in contemporary American urban music culture; present in virtually every major city setting.
  • Electronic and house — Miami is a global electronic music hub. The city's club scene is world-famous.
  • Country and Americana — Trailer 2's musical choices and the rural regions of Leonida both point toward this genre having representation.
  • Classic rock — consistent with the Tom Petty trailer choice and GTA's tradition of strong rock stations.
  • Pop and top 40 — a staple of GTA radio since GTA III.

This is not a confirmed station list — it is an informed reading of the setting Rockstar has established. Every genre above has a natural home in contemporary Florida.

GTA's Radio History

For context, here is how GTA's radio station count has evolved across mainline titles:

Title Setting Era Approximate Station Count
GTA III (2001) Contemporary 9 stations
GTA: Vice City (2002) 1986 Miami 9 stations
GTA: San Andreas (2004) 1992 California 11 stations
GTA IV (2008) Contemporary NYC 18 stations
GTA V (2013) Contemporary LA 17 stations (expanded in updates)
GTA Online (2013–present) Contemporary Grew to 20+ stations over updates

GTA 5 also introduced Self Radio — a custom station where players could import their own music files. Whether a similar feature returns in GTA 6 has not been confirmed.

GTA Online's radio expanded considerably post-launch, with Rockstar adding licensed stations and tracks over several years. GTA 6 Online — which Rockstar has confirmed is in development alongside the single-player game — could follow the same model, with the radio roster growing after launch.

What Makes GTA Radio Special

Radio stations in GTA are not just a music delivery system. They are world-building. The DJs, the advertisements, the call-in shows, the station identities — all of these are part of how Rockstar satirises American culture.

GTA 5's adverts alone became cultural artefacts: fake pharmaceutical spots, absurdist lifestyle brands, parody investment services. The advertising layer of GTA radio is where much of the game's comedy lives.

In a contemporary Leonida set in 2026 — a world of smartphones, social media, influencer culture, and livestreamed crime — the radio advertising parody has rich new territory. It is one of the most anticipated unexplored spaces in GTA 6's world-building.

When Will Rockstar Announce the Stations?

Based on precedent, expect a dedicated radio reveal in the final weeks before November 19, 2026. For GTA 5, Rockstar announced station names, DJ names, and partial tracklists approximately three to four weeks before launch. A similar timeline would place a GTA 6 radio reveal in late October or early November 2026.

We will update this article with the full confirmed station list and tracklist as soon as Rockstar makes an official announcement.
