Source transparency: All information on GTA 6 Vault is sourced from Rockstar's official trailers, press releases, and Take-Two investor communications. Sections that go beyond confirmed facts are clearly labelled as our own analysis.

Grand Theft Auto VI is taking players back to Vice City, but Rockstar Games has made it clear that the next Grand Theft Auto is much bigger than a return to the famous city from 2002. GTA 6 is set across the fictional State of Leonida, with Vice City serving as its central urban hub and several surrounding regions providing beaches, wetlands, wilderness, industrial areas, and rural communities.

Rockstar has officially revealed six major destinations that make up the known GTA 6 map: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. These locations were presented through Rockstar's official GTA VI website, trailers, screenshots, and descriptions.

However, Rockstar has not yet released an official complete map image or confirmed the exact size of Leonida. Claims that GTA 6's map is a specific percentage larger than GTA 5's should be treated as estimates, not facts.

The State of Leonida

The biggest confirmed detail about the GTA 6 map is that Rockstar is expanding the setting beyond Vice City itself.

The official GTA VI website describes the story as taking place amid a criminal conspiracy "stretching across the state of Leonida." This confirms that Leonida is the broader setting surrounding Vice City rather than simply another name for the city.

Rockstar's official material also shows that the world will contain dramatically different environments — from dense urban areas and beaches to tropical islands, swamps, rural communities, industrial areas, and northern wilderness.

The six officially named regions currently give the clearest picture of how diverse the GTA 6 world will be.

1. Vice City

Status: ✅ Confirmed

Vice City is the main urban centre of GTA 6 and the most recognisable location in the game.

Rockstar describes it as the "sunniest place in America" and has shown extensive footage of its beaches, downtown skyline, nightlife, streets, businesses, residential areas, and surrounding waterways.

The new Vice City is a modern recreation of the city originally introduced in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City in 2002. Rather than simply recreating the classic map, Rockstar has rebuilt the city as a contemporary metropolitan area.

Official footage shows a mixture of:

  • High-rise buildings and hotels
  • Beaches and marinas
  • Nightclubs and shopping areas
  • Residential neighbourhoods
  • Bridges, causeways, and waterways
  • Busy commercial districts with dense pedestrian areas

Vice City is also closely connected to the story of Jason and Lucia. Rockstar's official description says the pair become caught in a criminal conspiracy stretching across Leonida after an easy score goes wrong — making the city one component of a much larger world.

2. Leonida Keys

Status: ✅ Confirmed

South of Vice City is the Leonida Keys, a tropical island region clearly inspired by the real-world Florida Keys.

Rockstar has shown numerous scenes featuring small islands, bridges, turquoise water, boats, coastal roads, and houses surrounded by water.

The Keys are particularly important because they are connected to Jason's background. Official GTA VI material introduces Jason as someone who spent years working for local drug runners in the Leonida Keys, and trailer footage shows the pair travelling through this region around Jason's home.

The area should also make water transportation significantly more prominent than in many previous GTA locations. Boats, bridges, coastal roads, and islands are repeatedly featured in Rockstar's official footage.

3. Grassrivers

Status: ✅ Confirmed

Grassrivers is GTA 6's vast wetland region.

Rockstar's official material presents the area as a swampy environment containing marshes, cypress trees, waterways, and wildlife — a dramatic contrast to the dense urban environment of Vice City.

The region is strongly reminiscent of the real-world Everglades, although GTA's fictional geography is not intended to be a one-to-one recreation of Florida.

Grassrivers appears particularly important for outdoor activities. Rockstar's promotional material has shown wildlife and natural environments throughout Leonida, while official descriptions associate the wider wilderness with activities such as hunting and fishing.

4. Port Gellhorn

Status: ✅ Confirmed

Unlike the glamorous Vice City, Port Gellhorn is presented as a more rundown coastal community — a former vacation destination that has fallen on harder times.

Official imagery shows:

  • Coastal areas and waterfront locations
  • Low-rise and older buildings
  • Roads, highways, and industrial-looking areas
  • Boats and harbours

Rockstar's description gives Port Gellhorn a distinctly rougher identity, emphasising its faded tourist economy and the less glamorous side of Leonida. It represents a very different economic and cultural atmosphere from Vice City's wealthy beaches and high-rise skyline.

5. Ambrosia

Status: ✅ Confirmed

Ambrosia is a major region associated with industrial and blue-collar communities, centred around the Ambrosia Sugar refinery.

Rockstar's official imagery shows large industrial structures, sugar-processing facilities, roads, agricultural land, and surrounding rural environments.

Ambrosia also has a strong connection to the criminal world of GTA 6. The region is associated with the Alligator Alcatraz gang and biker culture, giving it a very different atmosphere from the tourist-heavy Vice City.

The combination of industrial infrastructure, agricultural land, and criminal activity makes Ambrosia one of the most distinct regions currently confirmed — helping establish that Leonida is an entire state with different industries, communities, and environments rather than simply a collection of beaches and skyscrapers.

6. Mount Kalaga National Park

Status: ✅ Confirmed

The northern part of Leonida contains Mount Kalaga National Park, the game's major wilderness and elevated terrain region.

Rockstar's official material describes it as an area of forests, lakes, wilderness, and outdoor activities. It is particularly significant because it confirms that GTA 6 will feature substantial mountainous terrain despite Leonida's strong Florida inspiration.

The region is associated with:

  • Forests, lakes, and wildlife
  • Hunting and fishing
  • Off-road trails and remote communities
  • People living beyond the reach of government authority, including dangerous and eccentric groups in the backcountry

Mount Kalaga therefore appears to be much more than a scenic mountain area — it is another distinct environment providing a major contrast to Vice City's urban landscape.

How Big Is the GTA 6 Map?

Status: ❌ Official size not confirmed

This is one of the most important things to clarify: Rockstar has not officially announced the exact size of the GTA 6 map.

There are numerous fan-made calculations and reconstructed maps online, including claims that GTA 6 could be 1.5, 2, or even more times larger than GTA 5. Those measurements should not be treated as confirmed. Community mapping projects combine official footage with frame analysis, geographical assumptions, and sometimes information from unofficial sources — and even the researchers behind them acknowledge that Rockstar has not published exact borders, scale, road geometry, or coordinates for the six regions.

The safest statement for now is:

GTA 6's map is officially confirmed to span the State of Leonida, but Rockstar has not revealed its exact size.

What we do know is that the world is geographically diverse. GTA 5 already contained Los Santos, Blaine County, mountains, desert, forests, and ocean. GTA 6 appears to follow a similarly varied structure while putting a much stronger emphasis on the Florida-inspired environments surrounding Vice City.

With six officially named regions, the game will offer:

Region Type
Vice City Urban
Leonida Keys Tropical islands
Grassrivers Wetlands
Port Gellhorn Coastal / industrial
Ambrosia Rural / industrial
Mount Kalaga National Park Wilderness

Will There Be More Locations?

Status: 🟡 Possible, but not confirmed

Rockstar has confirmed six major regions, but that doesn't necessarily mean these are the only named locations players will encounter. The official GTA VI website presents these regions as the known structure of Leonida, while trailers contain many additional buildings, roads, neighbourhoods, businesses, and landmarks.

However, Rockstar has not published a complete list of every town, neighbourhood, island, road, or landmark — so fan-made maps containing hundreds or thousands of markers should not be treated as official maps.

Final Thoughts

The GTA 6 map is shaping up to be one of Rockstar's most ambitious open worlds yet, but there is still plenty the company hasn't revealed.

What we know for certain is that GTA 6 takes place across the State of Leonida, with Vice City acting as the central metropolis. Rockstar has officially named five additional regions: Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park.

Together, these regions provide a wide variety of environments — from neon-filled streets and beaches to tropical islands, swamps, industrial towns, farmland, forests, lakes, and wilderness.

What remains unknown is the exact size of the complete map, its precise borders, and how many additional locations Rockstar has yet to reveal.

With GTA 6 currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, Rockstar still has time to reveal more of Leonida before release. For now, however, the safest conclusion is simple: Vice City is only the beginning. GTA 6's world is the entire State of Leonida.
