✅ Confirmed Animals
Alligators
The single most-featured animal across every trailer so far. Alligators appear in swamps, canals, and even suburban drainage ditches around Leonida, echoing real Florida news stories about gators turning up in backyards and golf courses. Trailer footage has shown them both as ambient wildlife and as an active environmental hazard — getting too close to water in the wrong area looks like it will get you attacked.
Dogs
Multiple dog breeds appear throughout the trailers, both as stray animals wandering the world and as pets belonging to NPCs. This continues a trend Rockstar started building out properly in Red Dead Redemption 2, where animals felt like part of the simulation rather than scenery.
Birds
Flocks of birds are visible in several establishing shots of Vice City and the surrounding coastline, including what appear to be pelicans and seagulls consistent with a Florida-inspired setting. Birds scattering when a vehicle drives past has also been shown, suggesting basic reactive behavior similar to pedestrians fleeing gunfire.
Marine Life
Underwater and coastal footage has shown fish and other marine animals in the water surrounding Vice City and Leonida's beaches. Will Wildlife Actually Matter for Gameplay?
Rockstar hasn't confirmed a hunting mechanic or an animal-based economy system the way Red Dead Redemption 2 had one. Based on everything shown so far, wildlife in GTA 6 looks to be primarily about:
- World believability — making Leonida feel like a real, lived-in ecosystem rather than a static backdrop
- Environmental hazards — alligators in particular seem positioned as something that can hurt you if you're careless near water
